A splatter
of cold rain fell against Sakura’s face, rolling down his cheek like a
synthetic tear. It was followed by another one, and then another, before
he was finally awaken, blinking upwards at a furious purple-black sky.
Yuki’s arms were still wrapped tightly around his waist, his face burrowed
in Sakura’s chest.
Sighing,
Sakura carefully pulled himself away from Yuki’s body, as to not wake him.
He quietly walked a few steps to the ocean’s edge, allowing the cold waves
to lap over his body. “What have I done?” he whispered to himself, resting
his forehead in the palm of his hand. The trickles of water that ran down
his face were not raindrops this time, but salty tears. As impossible as
it was, he felt as if he had betrayed Tetsu.
‘But he doesn’t even belong to you’ rang a laughing voice riding on the
wings of the mounting wind. The waves at the water’s shore pooled consolingly
around Sakura’s body, ‘If you make Yukihiro happy...’
“Sakura?”
Yuki’s voice shook the other out of his vision, bringing Sakura back to
reality, “We should go back.. there’s a storm coming.” Sakura blushed.
Yuki was still as shamelessly naked as all the time they had slept in each
other’s arms. Yukihiro ran a finger down Sakura’s cheek, surprised when
he jerked away from the touch. The last thing that Sakura wanted was for
Yukihiro to know that he had been crying. But most of all, he was scared
that he would realized it was for Tetsu. It wasn’t safe. It wasn’t safe
for Sakura to feel so strongly for one being, but for each time he saw
the Star, the surge in his heart grew a thousand times. His fate was now
bound with Tetsu, whether the star realized it or not. He would die to
protect him...
“Sakura..?”
Yuki asked quietly, running the back of hand along the other’s jaw, a touch
as gentle as that of a lover’s. “We should go.” He said more firmly this
time, offering his hand to Sakura. Sakura looked up at him, puzzled. “Why
are you doing this?” he asked quietly, pushing himself to his feet. “We
want completely different things.”
Yukihiro
smiled, shaking his head lightly, “But don’t you see.. we don’t. My mother
demands that Hyde’s soul be returned to her, and so that is my wish. And
you, have fallen hopelessly in love with the Star, whom you will never
have until they are torn apart.” Yuki smiled to himself at the absurdity
of that thought. “So you see, if we form a .. partnership of sorts,” He
slipped his fingers into Sakura’s hand, squeezing his fingers with a strength
that told Sakura it would be pointless to try and break away, “It works
out for the both of us in the end.”
The next
few minutes they walked silently down the beach hand-in-hand, conveying
a sight so serene that it seemed as if they were newly-found soulmates.
Once their house was finally in sight, Yukihiro paused, throwing his arms
around Sakura’s neck and pulling him close for a long, sultry kiss. Licking
the sweetness of Sakura from his lips he smiled, running a fingertip down
his chest. “So.. do we have a deal?”
“Levin?”
Die asked quietly, running his fingers through the other boy’s hair. He
thrust out a pouty bottom lip before continuing. Levin tightened his arms
looped around Die’s waist. “Something bad happened, huh?” He asked, tilting
his head down to look at Levin. Levin turned his head away from Die and
shrugged. “You know Levin.” Die whispered, “You always know. You’ve been
too quiet.” Levin finally turned back to Die, watching the mortal boy.
“Just.. tell me.”
Levin sighed, dropping his head so he stared up into the ceiling. He took
a long time to start talking, so long that Die started to think that he
wasn’t going to say anything.
“There’s
a storm coming,” he said quietly, almost as if he were talking to himself.
A puzzled look formed on Die’s face while he listened. “The Sea… she’s
angry.”
“The
sea..?” Die asked, shaking his head, “What does that have to do with anything..?”
Levin
sighed again, running a finger across Die’s cheek, “Maybe it’s time to
tell you about us…”
