Milky Way part 39
1 March 2001, Thu

the end is nearing it seems...nee, we all agreed that I should write the last part? *hopeful* ^^;
well.. anyway as a reminder of how the plot (so that I don't have to spend more time establishing events for the ending) should go:
-Die and Levin move away to town (in this case, do you think that Levin will go back to try and save them and THEN move away? It's up to you.)
-Yukihiro falls comatose; Sakura takes care of him.
-Tetsu sacrifices himself to save Hyde.
Then I can write the end.^^ *cranks up White Feathers*

"...before... Everything turns into a mess," He whispered, his head lowered. Die's eyelids fluttered as he blinked, not uttering a word. Seeing that he had nothing to say, Levin continued, "Yukihiro and I... are not humans."

"....." Sakura lowered his head. ...He was selfish. "...un."
"Then... It's good." Those alluring eyes narrowed in satisfaction, as his lips curled into a feline smile. Pulling his finger away, the two of them returned to the house, and Yuki let go of him as soon as he saw Sakura's lingering gaze at one of the closed doors. "See you later," and he let go of Sakura's hand.

"...kill us...?" Hyde repeated, and suddenly his heart chilled.
Tetsu smiled. It hadn't been happy, nor sad... Just so gentle, so gentle that it could have enveloped everything in its radiance and sheltered them from all storms. ".....kowai na?"
Hyde shook his head, suddenly fathoming something.... Shaking his head, "u~un. not at all."
"Hyde... I'll protect you. I promise..." He didn't notice the disagreeing expression on the latter's face.

I can't face him any longer.... That was the last thought that Sakura's mind conjured, before he returned to his room, a resigned sigh resting on his lips.

    "Not humans?"
Levin would have giggled and placed his finger upon Die's lips, but the corners of his lips were weighed down. "...Yukihiro is the son of the sea.... And I'm his cousin."
    "....." The redhead smiled.
"Do you think I'm lying?" Those large eyes were pleading.
"...No," Die held him closer, "I believe you."
    ". ...... ...They're in danger," Levin whispered.
    "Those two...?"
"No." Levin squeezed his eyes shut as he buried his head into the tall man's warmth, "....Them. Them all."

".....shizuka...naa..." Tetsu whispered, wrapping his arms gently around Hyde's shoulders.
    "nnn.?"
"The sea." He gestured towards the window.
It was indeed calm; the waves sifted gently over each other.
"The sea...." Hyde repeated, his eyes flooded with a mist of pain, but immediately it cleared. He nodded, and turned his head so that his gaze rested upon Tetsu's lovely features.

    Knock knock.
His knuckles rapped against the door soundly, and then with a smile, Yukihiro slipped in. "Sorry to be disturbing..?"
"No, it's fine," Tetsu returned this smile, and Yukihiro beamed up at him.
"I brought dinner," The taller boy held out a tray of pickles, grilled fish and rice. "It's my turn to cook."
"......Where did Die and Levin go?" Hyde cut in wearily.
"…They went away," Yukihiro said simply, his brows furrowed in a troubled expression. "….I can't believe Levin did that…"
They lapsed into silence; there really wasn't anything to say. They thanked Yukihiro quietly, and the boy padded away to allow them a private moment to themselves.

For once, he realized that his existence was totally wrong.
    Wrong; he shouldn't have existed…
When the days were created, before even the sea had formed, there was only darkness. Seeing that Darkness made the place cold and weary, the Creator said, "I shall create light."
Darkness was unhappy. The Creator, seeing disobedience in Darkness, punished it severely by going on ahead with his creation; it was light. Light pierced through darkness; wherever light existed, Darkness had to go.
During the days, everyone rejoiced, but they hated it when night came. No one noticed the harmless sorrow that lay in Darkness' existence, until silently that feeling of being abandoned grew so strong that it took over a human's soul.
For this, Darkness was severely punished again; it was deprived of feelings.
The essence of Darkness grew and prospered in that cursed race… Always being shunned, always being misunderstood and blamed.
Being a piece of Darkness, Sakura was only meant to sin…..

He was crying as well; those hands that could never touch Heaven had tainted it with a promise that he had given to Yukihiro.
It didn't matter to him; not at all. It was the reason that he was crying.
Night came in and filled the space, and then dawn came shining into the window, just like how it was meant to be.
The day outside grew to be clearer and clearer, until a slight gale began. Sakura noticed it, and an impending sense of fear filled him upon that sight.

The wind pulsated, bit by bit, until everything seemed to whirl in a gigantic spiral.
Startled, Hyde glanced up towards the window. Tetsu's gaze followed Hyde, and his eyes widened when he saw the tinted leaves slamming against the glass harshly. "...what... what is it...?" He gasped.
"....I..." Hyde couldn't tear his gaze away. "I'm not afraid."
    ".....what...?"
The lithe figure broke away from the Star's presence in a sprint outside, into the wind, into the salty wind....
"Hyde... Hyde?!" Tetsu cried, chasing after the boy. "...Stop!!"
A dread flooded the atmosphere. Tetsu managed to catch up, gripping tightly onto Hyde's arm.
"A storm... The storm is coming for me..." He struggled, trying to dislodge Tetsu's hold.
"Stop it!" Tetsu whimpered as those fingernails ripped at his skin. "Hyde... Hyde!"
"Please... Don't come after me anymore....."
He broke free, his naked feet kicking up the sand as he raced forward into the beach.
I don't want you to protect me; I want to protect you….
